CoolTimeUSA started with a simple problem. Summer is supposed to be fun, but the heat has a way of running the day. We went looking for something that actually helped, was easy to use, and did not involve dripping ice packs or a fan strapped to your face.

What we landed on was the cooling neck ring. It loops around your neck, where big blood vessels sit close to the surface, so a little cooling goes a long way. Inside the soft tube is a phase change material gel, the same class of technology that NASA funded back in the 1980s to help regulate temperature for astronauts. Ours is made for a hot Tuesday rather than a spacewalk, but the idea is the same. Chill it, wear it, and let it hold a steady, comfortable cool for hours.
